Roller Coaster

Hello Everyone! Well it’s been an interesting few months to say the least. I have had some great highs and some great lows. The highlight of my year in 2009 was the acceptance of one of my paintings to the AAEA show in Kentucky. My friend and I took a road trip down to the show and had a fabulous time. It was such an honor to see my painting in amongst such wonderful artwork.

The following month was very busy with work and a beautiful Vermont foliage season. But then I had to do what ever pet owner dreads. In November I had my lowest low of the year. I had to put my friend of 23 years to sleep. My horse, Sir Ivanhoe, developed complications with the melonoma that he had. I miss him very much and like most horse owners feel that that there will never be another like him.

I wish i could say things got better through the holidays. The Christmas season itself was very nice. I kept it pretty simple this year. The reason it didn’t get better is that my cat, Lily, who had been fighting an infection in her bone for almost 8 months at this point, was not getting better. And so at the end of January, as the infection actually got worse, the decision was made to amputate her leg. Now I have a tripod running around the house. And as everyone told me she would, she is doing just fine. Her only complaint now is that shes cold. “Did they really have to shave so much of my hair off, Mom?” She hates being cold, like most cats.

I have to honestly say that i would give up the wonderful honor of being in the AAEA show if I could have my friend back and a healthy whole cat. But that’s life. It happens. Onward and Upward.

So here to a better 2010! More painting, NO more pet problems or difficult decisions to make, and hopefully lots more blogging.

Cheers!
